The native land - Central and the South America, the Antilles. In the nature exists about 250 kinds.

Vriesea is a thermophilic plant, in the summer the temperature must be about 22-24°C, in the winter about 18°C, minimum 16°C.

The bright diffused light is necessary, it is possible with a quantity of the direct sun in the morning or in the evening. Vriesea grows well at east and northern windows.

In the spring and in the summer watering should be plentiful - the earthen clod should be wet all the time. Water in the socket. Having watered more moderately in the winter, water pour not into the socket, but in substratum. Water for watering must be warm.

Vriesea loves periodically spraying.

Breeds by lateral runaways.
