Valotta

Family of Amaryllis. The native land - southern Africa. In culture is extended Vallottaspeciosa. A beautiful long-term bulbous plant with the flowers, collected in an umbrella of flowers. Leaves are of dark-green colour, reddish in the basis, the linear form to 65 sm. in length and 3,5 sm. in width. Valotta blossoms in the summer and in the autumn. There are grades with bright-red, white, pink (salmon) flowers.

Valotta in the winter demands the cool maintenance nearby 10-12 °C, minimum 7 °C. Thus the dormant period of Valotta begins after the termination of flowering and proceeds approximately in a current of 2 months.

Bright illumination is necessary, including direct solar beams in the morning or in the evening - shadeness is required only at midday time in the summer if the plant is at a southern or southwest window. Though for Valotta east window is more preferable.

Watering should be plentiful since spring till the autumn, in the winter moderated - about one time in 10-14 days (depending on temperature), but the earthen clod in any case shouldn't dry up completely.

From time to time leaves of Valotta wipe with sponge. In the summer when the temperature is above 23-24 °C, regularly spray so that the water doesn't get on flowers.

Breeds by affiliated bulbs. During change accurately separate children and transplant on one on a small pot about 9-10 sm. in diameter. Bulbs deepen only on half. The separated "children" blossom only on 2-3 year.
