Stromanthe
The native land - tropics of America. In the nature there are 15 kinds. Stromanthe often confuse with Calathea and even with Ctenanta. In culture are extended Stromanthe blood-red, Stromanthe sanguinea - is a high plant, 1 m. in height, leaves are about 20-30 sm. in length. Its grades differ among themselves by colouring of leaves.
Stromanthe is a thermophilic plant. In the summer the optimum temperature must be 20-30°C, in the winter 18-20°C. The minimum for it at any time of the year 18°C. Stromanthe doesn't transfer draught and sharp temperature drops. In the winter it isn't necessary to put the plant close to windowpanes and is necessary to be afraid of cold air from not stuck frames.
The bright diffused light or easy penumbra are necessary, at bright light and in too dark place colouring of leaves is lost. Stromanthe doesn't concern to shade-loving plants. The majority of kinds of Stromanthe with painted three-coloured leaves needs more intensive illumination.
Having watered should be plentiful, in the winter moderated. It's necessary to water only with soft and warm water.
Stromanthe loves very damp air to 90 %. Regular sprayings of leaves are necessary. A pot place on the pallet with wet pebble.
Stromanthe breeds by division at change in the spring. Pots cover with polyethylene package and hold in a warm place while the plant take roots.
