Rhododendron

There are about 800 kinds of evergreen bushes and trees. Rhododendrons are extended mainly in a moderate belt of Northern hemisphere, thus the greatest variety of kinds is observed in Southern China, the Himalayas, Japan, South East Asia, and also in the North America. Meet also in Southern hemisphere — in New Guinea and in the northeast of Australia. Some kinds reach heights of 30 m, the size of the flowers is 20 sm. in diameter.

The time of flowering is from December till May, sometimes repeatedly in the end of summer.

Rhododendron grows slowly, especially in first years. Root system superficial, compact.

Rhododendron breeds by seeds, shanks and by division.

The bark and leaves are rich with tannins.
