This flower is a member of rather extensive family proteiny which totals 70 of sorts. In wild nature Protea grows in Africa and Australia where their huge variety is observed. In general, appearance of this flower happens very different depending on a kind. The sort Protea has received the name on behalf of the Greek deity, son of Poseidon. According to mythology, Protei could accept any appearances, as well as many-sided Protea.

Protea contains a lot of sweet nectar and is pollinated not by insects, and birds (for example, a sugar bird), bats and even small mammals!
